Emerging from the pandemic is a shift towards working from home, and the need for workspaces to promote social engagement as a key element of human-centred design. Improving the work life balance for its members through a tone of “serious fun at work” was key for The Commons, South Yarra. Separating work from home by offering what working from home cannot, was at the heart of this project. This vibrant and charming space was envisioned as a “third space” says Adele Winteridge, founding director of Foolscap Studio, the practice responsible for the design. Thus, the fit-out balanced function and joy, work and social, whilst catering to both individual and group needs.
.Zen Embossed Panels, in various colourways including blush, wine and navy were installed to support acoustic comfort in this lively space. Specialised spaces that the home can’t offer were crafted throughout the workplace in various unique but overall synergistic designs.
“Linear and modular workspaces are broken up by sculptural and fluid break-out zones and fun, engaging elements.” (Foolscap Studio)
