The MS Plus Wellbeing Centre in Lidcombe is a world leading facility. Designed by DEM and installed by Bright Ceilings, the design aims to meet the needs of those living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and similar neurological diseases. Woven Image acoustic finishes have been beautifully incorporated, aligning with the sustainable, aesthetic and health goals of the facility.
Biophilic design principles and sustainability underpinned the non-institutionalised and comfortable environment designed to support physical, emotional and cognitive rehabilitation. The blending of indoors and outdoors and references to nature creates abundant natural lighting and oak tones, resulting in pavilion styled architectural forms. To cultivate wellbeing while providing visual interest, the design allows occupants to enjoy nature from every space within the building. The accessibility to forms of nature aiming to assist cognitive functioning, reduce stress and elevate moods.
Woven Image acoustic ceiling baffles were installed throughout the entire centre, helping to enhance speech intelligibility and comfort. Array can be seen suspended above desks. For increased sound absorption, Array 24mm, was directly fixed to the ceiling in numerous spaces. With a gymnasium, therapy suites, administration offices and multifunctional rooms, the reduced sound reverberation is a crucial component that will assist productivity for employees and foster good health for occupants thanks to greater acoustic comfort.
