Nazareth Catholic College Senior Kidman Park Campus is the first of its kind as a purpose-built school in Catholic Education, South Australia. In response to a rapidly growing student population, Architecture firm Russell & Yelland were engaged to design and deliver, with the install efforts of Piotto Interiors, a contemporary and innovative learning environment.
Collaboration was a key focus of the design, which saw flexible learning environments and gathering spaces seamlessly blended together under notions of heritage, nature and community. Zen Embossed Panel, EchoPanel® 12mm and 24mm acoustic panels were utilised throughout the various learning spaces. Their acoustic treatment to walls helps reduce noise reverberation, facilitating an atmosphere of concentration and rejuvenation.
Seeking to establish a connection to nature through interior building materials, biophilic design principles inspired the use of organic shapes and colours, in a nod to the site’s market garden past. Tying into this theme, with a curved topography, Zen was installed in botanically themed accents colours Vineyard 349, Mushroom 454 and Charcoal 542. Likewise, EchoPanel® in coordinating colours, was utilised in open-floor spaces, overlapping breakout rooms and music studios.
As areas susceptible to excess noise, Woven Image’s design-led acoustic wall panels were ideal solutions to combat disruptive sounds while bringing the projects thematic colour and texture to life. Backed by third-party product declarations and environmental certifications, they continue to be specified in good conscience.
