The newly released Array ceiling solution has been used in the Indigenous Engagement Hub at Charles Darwin University. The main requirement for this project was to install a decorative ceiling solution with high acoustic ratings; Woven Image’s Array was the perfect solution.
The baffles used in the Array system are made from EchoPanel® 12mm and 24mm, providing the flexibility to fine-tune the space across a wide range of sound frequencies. For this project Hames Sharely specified distinct baffle shapes, all unique and organic in form, which were custom cut in our Australian production facility.
EchoPanel® baffles are available in the extensive colour palette of 12mm and 24mm. This project used a mix of colours from the 12mm range to reflect the diverse natural environmental of the Northern Territory, creating a cohesive and considered ceiling installation.
A major concern of the space was to conceal the services in the ceiling. In this area, Array has been mechanically fixed to a frame created by SHAPE to hide these services and add visual intrigue to the ceiling and space.
As this space needed to remain open plan, Array worked perfectly to define this area as a meeting and breakout space. When privacy is needed, it’s easy to pull across the curtain and let the baffles absorb the reverberated noise and limit the transfer of sound to other areas of the Hub.
Another advantage that Array provided during the fit-out was the ease and speed of installation, from minimal extrusion runs to mechanically-free baffle fixing, which all came together to deliver the perfect look the client was envisioning.
The client was very happy with the result, stating the EchoPanel® baffle ‘colour selection and form are beautiful’.
